Frequently Asked Questions
How long does homeschooling take each day?
The answer is unique for each family and depends on many different factors: your homeschool style, your child’s age, how much material you plan to cover, how engaged everyone is in the lesson, and so on.
Homeschool is often far more efficient and engaging than traditional school, and so what takes school an 8-hour day to cover, often only takes a homeschool family 1 – 2 hours.
For example — at its most “structured,” our typical homeschool day only takes about an hour of dedicated learning, and the rest of the day is wide open for exploration, projects, activities, and spending time together as a family. We never adhere ourselves rigidly to any scheduling expectations because, to us, that defeats the whole point of homeschooling.
What if both my partner and I work full time? Can we still homeschool?
Yes, you absolutely can. Homeschooling has literally never been easier than it is right now. There are countless creative options for every family’s unique needs, desires and goals. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Here are a few examples of how some parents are balancing work and homeschool:
- Work from home jobs, or jobs with flexible schedules;
- Using self-led or online curriculums for older children and teens;
- Hiring tutors;
- Joining homeschool co-ops;
- Splitting teaching duties between friends / family members;
- And much more…
That being said, some of the greatest magic of homeschool comes from family connectedness and the daily creation of your shared life vision… so we encourage you to do whatever it takes to work toward greater togetherness, whatever that looks like for you!

How much does homeschooling cost?

I'm not a teacher, can I really be responsible for my child's education?
What is the age range for homeschooling my child?
Homeschool can begin at any age, in any stage, and at any time of year. Whether your child is a toddler, in elementary school, or about to graduate, homeschooling is about meeting them where they’re at, and giving them a meaningful, personalized education.
In our experience, it truly never ends. As parents, we will never stop loving, supporting, and championing our children. Once the spark of homeschool is ignited within your family, no matter how old your children become, it truly never goes out.

What if my child is already in the school system? How do I take them out?
In the United States, withdrawing your child from school is 100% your right as their parent, and usually much simpler than most families imagine. You do not have to withdraw them at a specified time, you can take them out the moment you choose to.
There are steps you can take to set your homeschool up for success (we cover these in detail in the program). Some of them are:
- Check local laws: some require a withdrawal letter or form;
- Allow time to adjust: learn how “deschooling” can help kids AND parents transition from a “schooled” mindset to a freer way of living and learning;
- Start slow: there’s no need to rush or replicate school at home;
- And always remember, you can learn and adapt as you go. That’s what homeschooling is all about!
